On Running: Technologies
That On running shoes are different than most shoes on the market is obvious from first sight. But what exactly makes On running shoes different? Here’s the 101 on their technologies!
CloudTec
CloudTec is the most distinguishable feature of On running shoes.
These pods are created to soften your landings and give power to your take offs. Because the pods are mainly independent, they compress in different areas at different times and different intensity.
On was able to tweak the CloudTec constructions in order to offer different degrees of cushioning, responsiveness and stability in different models.
Helion
Helion is simply the name of On’s proprietary superfoam compound, found in their midsoles.
What On claims they’re able to achieve with Helion is to be able to create foam that has different properties in different areas, characteristics that was previously only possible by combining different foam materials in different areas of the shoe.
Speedboard
The Speedboard is a plastic-material plate that lives inside the midsoles of On running shoes.
Following the same exact principle as for carbon plates, the Speedboard uses its rigidity and geometry to harness and return energy after each step.
The material, shape, thickness and curve of the Speedboard changes to provide different results based on different running needs – from comfort to all-out speed.
