Comment on New Balance Fresh Foam X 880 v12 Review by nar https://www.runningshoesguru.com/2022/08/new-balance-fresh-foam-x-880-v12-review/#comment-1032543 https://www.runningshoesguru.com/?p=38298#comment-1032543 What I like:
This shoes is very light, and very comfortable. I have walked with it for hours, mostly on paved surface, and never had any blister nor felt sore after. The price is much cheaper compared to other walking/running shoes that I have.
What I do not like so far:
The sole wears out quick. I had mine for a little over 3 months, and I noticed that the sole have worn out much quicker compared to my other walking/running shoes.

(My first ever pair of modern style trainers). I like your thorough review, and agree with all your comments except regarding the laces. The laces and the width. The laces just don’t bother me, perhaps because I walk in them, I don’t run, and I like them done up fairly loose. I also have very wide feet. The trainers are great to walk in. I have a question which I’m hoping you might answer. Do you think it would be suitable to wash these GT 1000’s in the washing machine? I see that some of the Nikes these days are labeled as machine washable. I would be very grateful if you could give me your opinion on this. Cheers Peter

Phil, check out the Endorphin Speed or Endorphin Pro for the race. The Triumph will be a great training shoe for your preparation.

The cushion is superior for me as a 198-lb. runner. I have found Cliftons, Glycerins, UA Geminis and Ghosts to bottom out faster. So durability ranks as high as the underfoot cushion in my book.

Is that only a soft rule?

You do comment that these have more cushion than v2, but did not see a comment comparing the sole unit. Is there more stack or did the sole material change? Thx

Although I feel you were alittle lame on trail shoes. I’m surprised the àltra lone peak wasn’t on the list. My personal favorite trail shoe is the superior 5, for mix road and trails.

Comment on New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v10 Review by Ron Krikorian https://www.runningshoesguru.com/2020/01/new-balance-fresh-foam-1080v10-review/#comment-1032399 https://www.runningshoesguru.com/?p=27641#comment-1032399 I purchased two pairs of New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam X 1080 V12 Running Shoe, 10.5 X-Wide for walking in Feb 23. I weigh 180 lbs and walk 3-5 miles with 50% of the time on dirt/gravel/trail routes. I alternate the shoes. I’ve walked ~500 miles since purchasing them. They give my plenty of cushioning but the X-Wide seems to cause a little lateral flex. With about 250 miles on each pair, they are starting to show wear on bottoms (it would be great to allow pictures to be attached to comments). Since I only paid $85/pair they are proving to be a good value. But at $135/pair I would be disappointed in their durability.

I think this points out a good issue to solve, being the type of grip if often inversely proportional to another. Something with deep grooves has less surface area on a hard flat surface, while something that is flat slides is mud or snow. In this case the slightly textured mostly flat surface is very weak to being on water- I notice the same thing on mice or keyboard caps which have this when my fingers get sweaty.

It would be of benefit to have 2 different trackion ratings.
